Look Up and Fear Not!

November 7, 2011 / Cindy Barclay / "Treasure Trove" Blog Roll

Though I didn’t feel the tremors of the earthquake whose epicenter was in Oklahoma, I’m alert & aware.  I’ve read and heard everyone’s surprised comments that Kansas would “feel” some ripples of the earthquake tremors. God hides beautiful treasures for us to discover in life but He does not want the “end of the age” to be a surprise!

He wants everyone to “listen up and look up!”  🙂

lookup1

Mark 13:8.  Jesus tells us that at the beginning of the end of this present age, “

8 Nation will go to war against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be earthquakes in many parts of the world, as well as famines. But this is only the first of the birth pains, with more to come.”

That may seem like really bad news but I think it’s a GIFT-
a wake-up call!
A clue-
a trumpet sending a clarion call to become aware of what God is doing and let everyone know.
It’s like knowing we’re getting close to the end of a book but we’re not sure how many pages are left.  Is there a “surprising treasure” to be found in this verse?   YES!  We may not know how long this old earth will continue to be under the curse of sin but there are signs happening that gives us WARNING  and a WAKE UP that the end of this age is near!
God is giving people time- time to see, hear, and turn to Him!
It should be getting everyone’s attention and as a Christian, I have a perfect opportunity to share the
GOOD NEWS: Joy to the World- the Lord is come- let earth receive her KING!  Let every heart- prepare HIM room!

Psalm 46:1,2

” God is our refuge and strength,
always ready to help in times of trouble.
2 So we will not fear when earthquakes come
and the mountains crumble into the sea.
Let the mountains tremble as the waters surge!
4 A river brings joy to the city of our God,
the sacred home of the Most High.
5God dwells in that city; it cannot be destroyed.

We will NOT fear.

We should not fear!

Why?  Because God is our refuge, our protection, the answer, our fortress, our VERY PRESENT HELP IN TIMES OF TROUBLE!!!!!   That deserves a whoop, a shout, a hallelujah, or some other gesture of thanksgiving and excitement.  Go ahead- no one will hear you- do it right now 🙂

Luke 21:28

“Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.”

Look Up!- Jesus is coming. For those who love and know Him- our Happily ever after is coming!  NOW is NOT the time for us to QUAKE AND SHAKE!  Now is the time for us to “kick it into high gear!

This is it.  Anticipate and be glad.

Think about what God has promised!  God is going to make all things NEW- completely do away with sin, sickness, fear, and death!

Now is not the time to get overwhelmed and wring our hands and worry- that response is for those who don’t know the amazing grace and love of our Savior!

We’re in the finishing stretch!!!  Let’s share the Good News of GREAT JOY with everyone so they can jump in on the ending and know JESUS as their very present help in trouble!!!

Surprising Treasure:   Short and Sweet-  Jesus said- “Life Between the Trees will happen.”  Earthquakes, famines, diseases, wars…AND they will get worse as this world winds down- things are not going to get better- Remember the Law of Entropy?  Everything is going from Order to Disorder.  Nature itself is groaning (right along with most of us) for REDEMPTION.  but He ended with saying “BE OF GOOD CHEER- I HAVE OVERCOME THE WORLD.

thought I’d share this song again- be encouraged

encouragement, fallen world, Jesus will meet you there, living between the trees, overcoming, perspective, promises, treasure

In recent years this subject has been neglected by large segments of Christianity. We are acting as if things are going to go on and on, cycles, seasons, transitions, but no consummation. Thank you for reminding us and making it hopeful! Because Jesus’ coming Kingdom is our hope!

If we could just learn to be Eminded- eternity minded and see the big picture- I know it has revolutionized dealing with LIFE for me. 🙂

Edy- this coming Christmas season is stirring the anticipation of His second coming for me! Glad tidings of great joy- Joy to the World- prepare Him room! Let earth receive her King- When I read of all the scary things going on- my heart would fail if I didn’t anchor my thoughts to His complete RESCUE and REDEMPTION! I know that if we as Christians would live as though Jesus could come back at any moment we would not live the same way. Thanks for the reminder and song that so brilliantly describes what we know already, but need to be reminded of daily. This is not our home, and the world as we know it will soon pass away. Thank you Lord for redeeming your children!

Hi, I’m Cindy- 35 years of “livin” with my prince charming, Jeff. I’m a home maker, not a house wife, parent of 7, memory maker, mama bear, Nana to 11 & counting, Pastor’s wife and I’m daily amazed by the depths of God’s love.

I love reading, home schooling, encouraging others, playing the piano, worshiping, dating my husband, and planning parties and retreats for our clan. Someday, I really want a horse and learn to play the cello and viola.
