God Out Performs Google ~ Ranked #1

April 26, 2012 / Cindy Barclay / "Treasure Trove" Blog Roll, Best of Bethany

This is the True Story of how Bethany, discovers God out ranks Google in every way!

*

“MOM!  How you spell tummy?”

*

“t- u- mm-  wait!  why do you need to know?”

*

“I need to know so I can finish.”

*

Finish what?”

*

“Finish gettin ready to get me my baby!!!”

By this time I had come over to the computer where she had been working for about 30 minutes.  I found her with a Word document open displaying pages of pictures Bethany had found on Google which she had copied and pasted. Wow- and she has downs syndrome? LOL

She was making herself a very detailed baby book!!!  She had “googled” hospital beds and copied a bed that would be hers while she went to the hospital. (she pointed out that she had found a bed with food and a drink although I don’t think she knew there was a plastic urinal on that side table! 🙂 ) And she had “Googled” pictures of blankets, shoes, and clothes for a baby girl.

*

And she had Googled her very own nurse!

Finally, and most importantly, she had Googled the most beautiful picture of a baby girl.

“See all this- this is gonna be mine.  I’m gonna order that baby girl and name her Shenekah (spelling?)  All I need now is a picture where I have a baby in my tummy.” (this has to be virtual mommyhood at its finest 🙂 )

OH MY GOODNESS!  Are we going to go through this every time one of her siblings or cousins has a baby?  She certainly has an imagination…. and determination. 🙂

I just didn’t have it in me that day to be practical or explain why her dreams aren’t realistic.

Instead, I said, “Bethy, you just can’t Google everything you want and expect to get it.”

“But Why?” (2 favorite words)

“Because God is outranks and out performs Google in every way!

We can pray and talk to Him about all your dreams and wishes!

[Tweet “God sees your dreams and prayers. He sends His answers at the right time, in the best way! “]

You can count on it!)

Life does not come with a Google tool bar granting us instant access to order up our desires and wishes.

But life does come with unlimited access to One who loves to hear our desires and dreams.

Philippians 4:6 tells us, “6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving,  let your requests be made known to God; …”

Who knows how God will answer Bethany’s desires of her heart?

I know with absolute confidence He will. God delights in giving Good Gifts to those who seek Him with a pure heart.

I “so excited” to see HOW and WHEN He answers her prayers.

What a great answer and explanation for Bethie’s “But, why?” question! I especially relish this: “But life does come with unlimited access to One who loves to hear our desires and dreams.” Thank you for another delightful visit with life at your end of the line! 🙂 Hugs!

Thanks Edy! I was thinking I should post this right next to Tear Collector. When I first started dealing with Bethie wanting a baby so badly, I was so sad and caught up in the reality of her disability. BUT GOD- a year later and He has fine tuned my heart and hopes to see beyond to the possibilities and promises He has for all who love Him.

I’m thrilled for you, Cindy! As somebody said “God gives His best to those who leave the choices to Him.” And another favorite, from Elizabeth Barrett Browning: “God’s gifts put man’s best dreams to shame!” We can rest on His promises while He fills our hearts with joy. I love you, SweetPea!

As her Daddy, I live at ground-level with Bethany. It can be trying and difficult to walk through her “reality.” The fascinating thing about Bethany is that her misplaced facts or out of order ideas are not that much different from that of “normal” people. Bethany loves, cares deeply for others, and has her own hopes and dreams. I agree with Cindy “Because God is bigger and better than Google and He says to pray and talk to Him about your dreams and wishes! When He sees the dreams you have, He sends answers at the right time in the right way! You can count on it!)

Thanks Lori- she is a determined dreamer. LOL I have to put limits on how long and where she can wear her (pregnancy ball) she stuffs into her shirts. She goes around holding her back or patting her tummy. 🙂

    Cindy and Jeff,
Bethany is a sweetheart. There is a Down’s child in the Olympia area and I just absolutely love the kid and don’t even know him. I cannot tell you how precious he is and is living a Happy life. Somehow I think God put these special people in our lives for us to love and enjoy. Rest of us are just floating around out there trying to make sense of life and they have figured it out. Love you all. A Mar

[panel style=”default” title=”About Cindy” text_align=”left”]Jeff & Cindy

Hi, I’m Cindy- 35 years of “livin” with my prince charming, Jeff. I’m a home maker, not a house wife, parent of 7, memory maker, mama bear, Nana to 11 & counting, Pastor’s wife and I’m daily amazed by the depths of God’s love.

I love reading, home schooling, encouraging others, playing the piano, worshiping, dating my husband, and planning parties and retreats for our clan. Someday, I really want a horse and learn to play the cello and viola.
