White Stone Identity- God’s Got a New Name Just for You!

June 27, 2012 / Cindy Barclay / "Treasure Trove" Blog Roll

Some people struggle with pride and thinking too highly of themselves, (God has a way of taking care of that 🙂 )

e

but others hear a different kind of voice………….

s

“Loser” “Geek” “Emu” “Goth” “Weirdo” “Dummy” “Idiot”  “Stupid”  “Trash” “Reject” “Retard” “Disappointment”

s

(Some people should should have Ralphie’s mom around with a bar of soap!)

[Tweet “The power of life and death are in the tongue- watch your #words #life #death”]

s

WARNING: If you want to see something scary, watch what happens if I’m around someone who dares calls my husband or children a negative name or anyone I love-

they’d better watch out!

ROAR! 🙂

sesc

e

But what happens when your own mind silently plays negative labels to yourself about yourself?

x

 ? ? ?

s

Have you ever measured yourself and come up “lacking”?

s

Have you ever heard a voice in your mind saying,

s

“You’re such a failure.  You just can’t seem to overcome some sins and you don’t have very much faith.  You don’t have it together.  You’re a loser- a hypocrite- a lame Christian.  God knows you doubt His word.  He knows you live in fear.  He knows you don’t love Him with all your heart.  If you’re disappointed in yourself, think how much more God is disappointed in you!”

s

LIES!

[Tweet “God speaks the #truth in #love- we may be #flawed but we’re His #treasure.”]

e

The funny thing about your mind is you hear it but you don’t HEAR it.

If these words were AUDIBLE- we would sit up and take notice!

But the silent accusations of our mind often play unrestrained and unchecked!

e

Flashback to one of the days I was fighting depression:  my thoughts were negative and debilitating.  I had just read in Revelation where one day God will give us a white stone with a new name and I thought- Yeah, I’ll bet my new name will be something like “D for disappointing” or “Should have tried harder”.  (such lies we listen to sometimes~ )

w

The TRUTH is –

[Tweet “No longer are we outcasts or enemies of God- He call us #Beloved.”]

  Because of Jesus-

The Father calls us

Friend-     Beloved-     Treasure-   Overcomer-   Child-      Apple of My Eye-     my Masterpiece-     Righteousness of Christ-   “Mine”!

WOW!   God is transforming each one of us into something beautiful – We may not be what we want to be yet, but I guarantee we’re going to be EVERYTHING He transforms us to be because He won’t give up on us until we’re reflecting His likeness.  We’re all going to get a white stone with a new name on it! And you can be sure it will be a good name!

beloved1 Surprising Treasure: God doesn’t call you bad names- He tells you the truth!   He sees what you are in Him!  He knows your name and He knows far better than you, the glorious image He’s changing you into!  Do you think He is a half-way God or does He do all things for His glory, through His power, in His mighty transforming name?!  He knows your NAME and loves you!

Oh, Cindy, I’ve never put these together like you have. Wow! I’m so glad I belong to Him and He knows my name and loves me. You have really blessed me today! Love you, my sweet friend! 🙂

Rita- you are such an encourager! I think about how He is the perfect Father- good fathers speak life and blessing into their children’s lives- not overlooking their faults but certainly not assigning them a degrading name and identity! I’m so joy filled that He is patiently, faithfully calling us His own AND transforming us at the same time! Love you too!!!!

“Beloved” – just the perfect choice for our new name! And, not just for us, but for everyone Jesus died to redeem. Thank you for this “identity check” posting, Cindy! Hugs! 🙂

Despite postmodernism’s many denials concerning moral measures of sin and guiltiness people continue to feel guilty about themselves and the things they have done. I believe this to be overwhelming evidence that we are broken image-bearers of the God who created us. And yet God seeks to redeem, repair, and restore–To change our name! Ephesians 1:6 “To the praise of the glory of His grace wherein He has made us accepted in the Beloved.” Speaking about the story of Hosea and Gomer, the Apostle Paul writes, “I will call her who was unloved, ‘My beloved.'”
    Great post my beloved! 🙂

    Always a good reminder.
As I was reading in Isaiah 55 in the Amplified today, verse 7 jumped out.
I guess I need to check my thoughts and take them captive today!!!
    Love you!

It’s amazing what “whispers” go unchecked in our mind. Remember that old chorus we used to sing Pam? I am my beloved’s and He is mine- His banner over me is love! I want to learn to live there- under His banner of love! love you too! hugs

I love your posts and the points they get across. How those negative thoughts can invade us if we let them. Thank God he is so loving and forgiving.

[panel style=”default” title=”About Cindy” text_align=”left”]Jeff & Cindy

Hi, I’m Cindy- 35 years of “livin” with my prince charming, Jeff. I’m a home maker, not a house wife, parent of 7, memory maker, mama bear, Nana to 11 & counting, Pastor’s wife and I’m daily amazed by the depths of God’s love.

I love reading, home schooling, encouraging others, playing the piano, worshiping, dating my husband, and planning parties and retreats for our clan. Someday, I really want a horse and learn to play the cello and viola.
