Beware Pirates- they be after your treasure

PIRATES don’t just live on the high seas! I’ve got a sneaky pirate, who resides with me! She “pilfers” my phone with great skill. At anytime, at any moment, a text message might be sent forth to any unsuspecting victim, from my phone.

“i love you call me skype”

“sonic date call me”

“come see me date subway applebees”

“stay all night my birthday go on date taco bell”

Alas, a cell phone pirate resides with us. Her name?   Arrrg- Sneaky Pete Bethany! Seriously, I have never felt her “lift” my cell phone.  She’s as smooth as silk, stealthy as a Ninja, slippery as an eel: I have never caught her red-handed! LOL She’s that good- or bad! 😉

While we think it’s hilarious and all have a great laugh about her ingenuity and texting skills, there are other “pirates” who don’t play fair and aren’t so cute.

Life has Pirates of every size and shape and personality.  These greedy knaves observe you have a connection with God.  They scrutinize your treasure hunting- they watch you seeking eternal satisfaction and they don’t like it- not one little bit.  If they’re not happy- they don’t want anyone happy! They plot and scheme against anyone who is trying to live in truth and love.  They come in all manners and forms to steal your joy, plunder your peace, kidnap your treasure, pilfer your priorities, and try to destroy your forward momentum and growth!

Aye! These pirates be nasty!

So Beware Of Pirates!

On the other hand- if you’ve been a treasure hunter very long, maybe the warning should be- Beware Pirates!  God has opened my eyes to your sneaky ways- I’m onto you! I’m warning you- I will fight to keep the treasure God has given me! My eyes are fixed on God’s goodness and His truth is hidden in my heart! You’re not going to steal from me! I refuse to be destroyed.  I’ve made the Lord most High my Rock and my fortress. No weapon formed against me shall prosper!  So Beware Pirates because I’m going to resist your discouraging ways and hopeless message! I’m standing tight with God!

Surprising Treasures:  The thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy, but I (Jesus) have come so that you can experience life to it’s fullness!  John 10:10  …and  Ephesians 6: 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

I can imagine this as the kickoff to a children’s book, Cindy! Don’t they love the thrill of adventure, along with a chill of danger to beware? Perhaps, even in rhyming verse (thrill, chill!) 🙂 Early introductions to spiritual truth carry a lot of weight for a lifetime. This could be another avenue to explore!

I love your special little “sneaky Pete” pirate, Bethany. She just might be the new main character to romp through a series of stories like this!

I am wondering if our internal doubts, fears, our “carnal” nature might not be the sneakiest pirates of all. The pirates of my own carnality steal from me everyday. Most of us have such an allergic reaction to grace! What is that all about anyway? Romans 5:2 says we “stand in grace.” Titus 2:11-15, For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldy passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age…”
“Arghhh, me thinks it be time to call on me good Captain Grace go after them scallywag pirates and restore to me my rightful treasures in Christ!”

Hi, I’m Cindy- 35 years of “livin” with my prince charming, Jeff. I’m a home maker, not a house wife, parent of 7, memory maker, mama bear, Nana to 11 & counting, Pastor’s wife and I’m daily amazed by the depths of God’s love.

I love reading, home schooling, encouraging others, playing the piano, worshiping, dating my husband, and planning parties and retreats for our clan. Someday, I really want a horse and learn to play the cello and viola.
