Holey, Holy, Wholly- Lord God Almighty!

I love teaching Bethany homonyms.  Homonyms are words that sound the same but they’re spelled differently and have different meanings.  They’re fun, but can make English difficult to learn! I’ve also come to the conclusion, there’s probably waaaaaay too many in the English language.  Some are easy to illustrate by pictures. Below are just a few!

Then there are these hard to illustrate homonyms where  I (eye)  wrack (rack) my brain trying to get Bethany to see (sea) and hear (here) the abstract thoughts in her mind (mined). Its so sweet (suite) when she can site (sight) a new (knew) word. It can be real (reel)  hard to know (no) which one (won) to use. When she picks (pics) the right (write) word, I praise (prays) the great (grate) efforts she put forth (fourth)! LOL See what I mean- Home Schoolers Unite 🙂

But for today, I’m concentrating on three words–

1.) HOLEY

Our lives, spirits, and minds are full of holes.

We like a bucket leaking water-

we’re holey people who need to be patched up, filled up, and fixed up.

[Tweet “#Sin has torn the fabric of our being- we need God’s redemption to make us #whole.”]

2) HOLY

The Lord God Almighty is Holy- He is set apart-He is awesome in His majesty, glory & goodness!

There is no one like Him!

“Who among the gods is like you, O LORD?

Who is like you–majestic in holiness, awesome in glory, working wonders?  Exodus 15:11

[Tweet “There is none like our God! #holy #awesome #splendorous”]

3.) Wholly-

to the FULL ENTIRE EXTENT- completely devoted to- belonging to completely

The Holy God wants holey people to be wholly His! WOW- now that Amazing!

He’ll exchange our holey- messy- broken lives

cover us with His HOLINESS by the sacrifice of Jesus Christ’s death on the cross

and transform our holey lives wholly! Can I get a witness?!

Hallelujah!

Cindy, this morning I am praising God for the technology He has brought into our lives–music, pictures, words, all in motion & sound, to touch us through our senses. Thank you for your diligence in sharing with us (and in a language that does seem to be among the most complex available!)

    Hugs!

Good Morning Cecelia! What a “gift” technology is and a huge responsibility to use it wisely & for His glory. We can virtually surround ourselves with His Word, praise & worship music, encouragement and teaching- and yet so many struggle from being sucked into the mesmerizing seduction of the inferior use of technology that just numbs our brains and starves our spirits. Hugs to you sister- Be wholly today 😉

I am a “holey” believer… I leak… But in Jesus Christ I am holy. In His holiness I am whole, despite the leaks. And I am taking care of those pesky holes as they come along. Got a sea to sail!

I love, love, love this! Homonyms are such fun, and you found lots more than I would have. How do you locate all the neat illustrations you post? YOU hold the Holy Treasure that brings so much delight as it leaks out of your “holey” vessel — See how the Lord makes use of even our brokenness? Wholey awesome! 🙂

[panel style=”default” title=”About Cindy” text_align=”left”]Jeff & Cindy

Hi, I’m Cindy- 35 years of “livin” with my prince charming, Jeff. I’m a home maker, not a house wife, parent of 7, memory maker, mama bear, Nana to 11 & counting, Pastor’s wife and I’m daily amazed by the depths of God’s love.

I love reading, home schooling, encouraging others, playing the piano, worshiping, dating my husband, and planning parties and retreats for our clan. Someday, I really want a horse and learn to play the cello and viola.
