The God of Angel Armies is Your Friend

There is no better way to start a Monday of home schooling, than snuggling on the couch with Cohen and Bethany!

First on our agenda: The Message Bible for Kids. Our reading took us to Zachariah’s biggest day of his life- as a temple priest, it was his turn to go into the Holy of Holies and pray for His nation.

A “surprising treasure” awaited him! An angel from the host of the armies of heaven appeared and delivered a shocking message.

The unbelievable message? God was going to bless his wife, Elizabeth, and him with a baby.  His name was to be called John- who would “prepare the way” for the Messiah!

“Cohen! Beth! What do you think  it would be like if an angel suddenly appeared to you to give you a message from God?  Why do you think was it hard for Zachariah to believe the angel? “

a

Cohen snuggled closer, “Its hawd to believe sometimes, just cause life is hawd, Nana.”

Beth had to add her two cents, “Yeah. Life is hard, Cohen, but we all have to do it.”

They shook their heads in agreement and solemnly looked up at me to see what I would add.

a

Hugging them tightly, I smothered laughter wondering how hard life for a four year old and an 11 year old could be. Although upon looking back, it’s all relative- the simple fact is- Life is hard sometimes, no matter your age.

They key is to believe.

God-

the God who breathed stars into existence

The Sovereign Lord of the Hosts of Angel armies-

The Ancient of Days and the Soon and Coming King

declares

He is our friend!

I know Who goes before me!

I know Who stands behind.

The God of Angel Armies,

is always by my side.

The One who reigns forever-

HE is a friend of mine!

The God of Angel Armies, is always by my side!

Cohen’s simple insight “…just cuz life is hawd Nana…” makes me consider something that I wish wasn’t true. I don’t want to reach too far past Cohen’s thoughts, but these are spiritually intense days. Daniel speaks of a time when the enemy of our souls will “seek to wear down the people of God.” Let’s remember to pray for our children. No doubt their souls are discerning the negative spiritual atmosphere of our culture. But there is a place in God.. A special place… A place where the Prince of Peace reigns and rules… Scripture calls it “the secret place.” But its no secret to those who know Jesus. The secret place is not a place. Its a Person, the Person of Persons! Cindy was right in telling Cohen and Beth, “Yes, He surrounds us with Himself!”

Agreed! Love that “the secret place is not a place, its a Person!” Thank you for your presence and teach us to live there 24/7!

Cindy, all I can add is Amen! And another Amen, to Jeff’s comments.
Thank you for inspiring me to draw nearer to Him, and know that He is indeed always by our side. Blessings, to you my sweet friend!

I’m glad we can never flee from His presence- the world is shaking and quaking and I want to hide myself under His wings.

[panel style=”default” title=”About Cindy” text_align=”left”]Jeff & Cindy

Hi, I’m Cindy- 35 years of “livin” with my prince charming, Jeff. I’m a home maker, not a house wife, parent of 7, memory maker, mama bear, Nana to 11 & counting, Pastor’s wife and I’m daily amazed by the depths of God’s love.

I love reading, home schooling, encouraging others, playing the piano, worshiping, dating my husband, and planning parties and retreats for our clan. Someday, I really want a horse and learn to play the cello and viola.
