Mysterious are God’s ways and I love it when you find yourself right smack dab in the middle of a great “out take”.

Scene 210,543

and ——- Action!

Cohen, Finley, Amy, Bethany, Jeff and I went to lunch at Taco Bell to see our son, Micah, who is the General Manager.  We were seated and almost satiated from eating tacos, nachos, rice and beans, when Cohen, ever curious and never at a lack for questions, spied my necklace and said, “Hey Nana. What’s that?

mitzpah

I pulled it out for him to see and explained. “Cohen- this is so neat.  It’s a Mitzpah coin- I got it for Poppi and I for Valentines Day.  Since Poppi’s getting ready to go on an 8 day mission trip, (we’ve never been apart that long and if we are we talk every day- but where he’s going, we won’t be able to communicate 🙁 ) I wanted to give us something special we can both wear.  When you put them together they make a whole coin and says a Bible verse  See what it says on mine- and Poppi’s?

The Lord watch between you and me while we are apart.

“If we’re both wearing it, its kinda like we’re with each other. Every time I feel it, I can hold it and pray for Poppi.”

Cohen & Sarah

His eyes widened and with theatrical awe and childhood innocence, he asked.

“And then what happens?”

Jeff and I burst out laughing. I was going to explain better, so he didn’t think it was something “magical” like a genie rubbing a lamp. But before I could speak – before I had realized our “play” had been observed and there was another person stepping into our “scene”.

One of Micah’s employees is a professing Wiccan. He stopped abruptly, focused on us and with gravity and a touch of sarcasm asked,

“Actually, he asked a very good question. Just what do you think happens?”

Without really thinking, I blurted out, “The heavens open up! God hears every prayer is is constantly involved in answering prayers that bring Him glory!”

[Tweet ” God hears every prayer and is constantly involved in answering prayers that bring Him glory.””]

He tried to stare me down. I stared back and smiled. He finally looked away and went back to work…..

end of scene

(or is it? Because God is still working- even when we can’t see 🙂 )

questions

I’m glad God gave me an instant response that lifted up His name- but I’m not always quick or current. I’ve been thinking how much fun it was- exhilarating, really, to share Him with someone who so desperately needs to know Him.  I want to begin to think of myself as a treasure chest- full of His treasures and precious gifts- and be ready to lavishly share them with everyone who intersects my life.

Surprising Treasure: We’re not to hoard the limitless treasure He blesses us with- but with joy and thanksgiving, share our treasure with those who are lacking.  We can be treasure givers because we are treasure hunters! 🙂

I love your comment to the Wiccan. It was God sent and perfect. Don’t you just love it when the Holy Spirit takes over your thoughts that way? Let’s pray that it will cause Him to think. God love this fellow so very much.

Always enjoy your blogs. You can tell you have had training with your writing. I would like to take a class some day and learn more about the finer art of proper writing.

Tell Bethany, Gege says hi. It is so wonderful that Bethany has so many that love, reinforce her, and embrace her as a wonderful child of God. I know she has rough times, but think of what her life would be like if she were placed in many wombs. As you know, she would either have been aborted or being living a sheltered, unloved life. She is so blessed to have her loving family and church.

    My warmest love and care,

    Earleen

Thank you so much Earlene! So many times I think of what I wanted to say “after” the fact but I know the Holy Spirit just let that pop out! You are such a gift in Beth’s life and I’ll tell her hi. You know, people are so afraid of having a child with “special needs” (at least I was BB- before Bethany) but I could never have imagined the wealth, love, and God-perspective she would deposit daily in our lives! hugs

Drop down, oh heavens, from above, and the let the skies pour down righteousness; let the earth open, and let them bring forth salvation, and let righteousness spring up together; I the LORD have created it, (Isaiah 45:8).

Oh God may we minister in our cities under an open heaven!

I have it on good authority, Cindy – you ARE one of God’s treasure chests. For “we have this treasure in earthen vessels that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.” Another one of your entries I have to share on facebook! Thanks, my dear!:)

[panel style=”default” title=”About Cindy” text_align=”left”]Jeff & Cindy

Hi, I’m Cindy- 35 years of “livin” with my prince charming, Jeff. I’m a home maker, not a house wife, parent of 7, memory maker, mama bear, Nana to 11 & counting, Pastor’s wife and I’m daily amazed by the depths of God’s love.

I love reading, home schooling, encouraging others, playing the piano, worshiping, dating my husband, and planning parties and retreats for our clan. Someday, I really want a horse and learn to play the cello and viola.
