3 Reasons I Treasure Pinterest

pinterest3 When I first heard about Pinterest- I thought-

“Not me- I already have too much on my plate and the last thing I need is another social media outlet!”

Let me tell you why I changed my mind and why you should consider one of the coolest social media tools- imho- ever.

1. It Lets Me Organize “Me”

My thoughts, resources, recipes, dreams, links, books etc.

ALL in ONE PLACE- tada

I am not an organized person by nature. I organize by making and moving piles; scraps of pages torn out from magazines, turned down pages in books of quotes I’d like to remember, recipes, prepping and home grown advice, lists of songs I love, resources and links other people have given me about special needs that I put somewhere until someday comes; then when someday comes- I can’t find it!

Pinterest is eliminating my messy- random- abstract- collecting.

Everytime I read something, I can PIN it.ย  I now have 75 Boards! Wow- I didn’t know had that many interests ๐Ÿ™‚ย  No wonder my brain feels cluttered sometimes!

For those who don’t know or use Pinterest- yet- Boards are just what they sound like! Remember the old bulletin boards? Well these are way cooler! Visual- neat- tidy “cyber” boards that you organize- you can comment- or not- it doesn’t matter.ย  This is for you to enjoy and to organize your thoughts!ย  I love the paper clutter I’ve been able to throw away!

2.ย  They let you learn & be encouraged visually!

Pinterest has helped me in my treasure hunting for God things!

I love this!ย  This venture can be just for yourself- or you can adventure out and follow other people.ย  I’ve found VAST amounts of treasure, information, links, knowledge, encouragement, inspiration, fashion, hair styles, blogs, crafts, shopping, home schooling curriculum, photography tips, art, pets,Bible sayings, gardening, prepping, how to parent, how to grandparent, quotes, Must Read Book lists, recipes, do-it-yourself projects, favorite movies, vacation places, dreams for the future-

you name it- you can find it and then pin it!

When you “pin” something from someone else’s board to yours- guess what?!

It shows you where they got the “pin” so you can go on a merry goose chase or rabbit trail, exploring endless potential friends Pinterest Boards and this brings me to the third point.

3. Pinterest Has Taught Me to Take Control of all Social Media

clockWhen I added Pinterest, along with blogging, FB, twitter, email, and YouTube- with LIFE- well- it made me realize I can do all these things but I have to limit and control them! I tend not to get on Pinterest more than 1 or 2 times a week and I try not to stay on longer than 30. min. at a time.ย  Like anything- it has the potential for good or “addiction”.

Of course- the best social medium- is not media but people.ย  But I think Pinterest has great value in helping me become and stay organized, and continue learning from others who have already done the research so I don’t have to!

If you want to look at my Pinterest Boards- click on this link and it will take you there.ย  Literally, your imagination is your only limitation….

treasurechest1Surprising Treasure: It might seem like I’m going overboard here- but there is a scripture that comes to mind- so many times we dream or think about things but don’t “write” them out plainly- or visually or organize them into a plan.ย  When I think about Pinterest- it makes me think of this verse below! Blessings!

Maybe I should get a commission? LOL? I realize how “visual” I really am- and I’ve always wanted to learn to write well enough to “draw a picture or scene” maybe someday ๐Ÿ™‚ but anyway, that scripture, in Habakkuk- isn’t it awesome? We can envision something in our hearts and minds and yet if we can’t express it plainly- how can people grasp it and be inspired- educated- etc.? And God gave us 5 senses- visual being such a wonderful way to process information! hugs and love to you bunches big sister!

    Cindy,
I just started Pinterest a few days ago and held off so long for the same reasons you did. I’m creeping my way around the site, but I am enjoying it–even started a board with Possible Future Novel Characters. ๐Ÿ™‚ It gives you a place to dream.

And organization isn’t one of my gifts either, so this is pretty cool!

    Love to you today!

Julie- I love it! I’m going to follow you! Do you know Carrie Turn? I’ll have to look up her last name- she’s an author- anyway she has cool pinterest boards with her characters, clothing from that era, buildings, etc. I can see how it could help me map out and detail a storyline before I started writing. ๐Ÿ™‚ maybe someday ! hugs today sweet friend!

[panel style=”default” title=”About Cindy” text_align=”left”]Jeff & Cindy

Hi, Iโ€™m Cindy- 35 years of “livin” with my prince charming, Jeff. Iโ€™m a home maker, not a house wife, parent of 7, memory maker, mama bear, Nana to 11 & counting, Pastorโ€™s wife and I’m daily amazed by the depths of Godโ€™s love.

I love reading, home schooling, encouraging others, playing the piano, worshiping, dating my husband, and planning parties and retreats for our clan. Someday, I really want a horse and learn to play the cello and viola.
