Building Your Eternal Investment Portfolio

Blessed quietness,

the beauty of sunrise,

the symphony of the birds heralding a new day;

I luxuriate in the peaceful promise of mornings!

bethanysleepThe Word of God watering my spirit and a good cuppa coffee saturating my sleepy brain, I lifted my head as I heard Bethany’s recognizable flat feet clomping down our stairway. I raised my arm and gestured for her to come close & snuggle as she continued to wake up. (Bethany and I like to wake up  s-l-o-w-l-y  and  g-e-n-t-l-y- unlike others I know- er 😉 Jeff)

I breathed in her freshly washed hair and reveled in that moment of pure love, when life is still and love is tangible.  I drew her closer, sighing with contentment,

“Bethany- you are Mommy’s treasure.”

Sleepily she murmured,

“No, Mommy.

‘member?

…..

our treasure is in heaven.”

She’s right…..

and maybe she’s wrong.

Of course our treasure is in heaven- Jesus is the greatest treasure we could ever know.

We’ve heard the phrase- “you can’t take it with you” when you die.

However, here’s my thought for the day!

[Tweet “You can take something to heaven- if you’re treasuring something eternal.”]

People are God’s Greatest Treasure and we are to love the treasure of His heart with His love.

People are the only thing you can take to heaven with you.

So daily invest in eternal treasure;

PEOPLE.

Love your husband, wife, children, family, neighbors, friends, the world…. Share God’s Good News with them- that they are so treasured by their Creator that He sent His only Son to open the door that was once shut to us- and now is open wide!

treasurechest1Surprising Treasure: Prayer- Lord, please show us the treasure in each one you’ve put in our lives. Help us show your love and point the Way into your Kingdom! Help as gather up as much “treasure” in this life to take it into the next! In Jesus Name- Amen.

But you are A CHOSEN RACE, A royal PRIESTHOOD, A HOLY NATION,

GOD’S  OWN TREASURED POSSESSION,

so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you

out of darkness into His marvelous light;

    Cindy, I probably have mentioned this before, but want to say it again. “You are a very, very talented writer. I marvel at how you get across the beauty of your thoughts with such unusual and unique phrasing. Keep up the good (Godly) work for you are wonderfully gifted.

    Heavenly Hugs,

    When I realize how much God shows His love for us through the people He has given us, I can’t help but rejoice. Then I have to weep for those poor souls wandering alone in the world. What an opportunity we have to be channels of God’s love for the forlorn and unloved around us! Like the old gospel song we pray, “Lord lay some soul upon my heart, and love that soul through me.” Thank you for this delightful reminder, Cindy! And, that beautiful photo of Bethany napping could be an oil painting. I love it!

      The older I get, the more I realize my primary reason to be alive- To know and connect with God and then be a conduit of His love- helping everyone come to know Him and walk in His love. Life gets so overcrowded with other “good but not so essential” goals that distract us from our core reason to exist- to show and share God’s love. hugs to you sweet Edy- thank you for always weighing in with wise comments- You’re a treasure for sure!

[panel style=”default” title=”About Cindy” text_align=”left”]Jeff & Cindy

Hi, I’m Cindy- 35 years of “livin” with my prince charming, Jeff. I’m a home maker, not a house wife, parent of 7, memory maker, mama bear, Nana to 11 & counting, Pastor’s wife and I’m daily amazed by the depths of God’s love.

I love reading, home schooling, encouraging others, playing the piano, worshiping, dating my husband, and planning parties and retreats for our clan. Someday, I really want a horse and learn to play the cello and viola.
