God’s Last Will and Testament

last will
We might prepare a last will and testament but

God has a better last Will and Testament than we can imagine!

Jeff and I have been “laboring” through the process of updating our wills.  It’s been sobering and complicated, because we’re addressing Bethany’s special needs by setting up a Special Needs Trust, a Guardianship, and an Executor.

We haven’t accumulated much in the way of money, stocks or bonds, but if we don’t prepare and plan, the state would come in and decide who to appoint as guardian for Bethany and how our estate should be divided. I’ll be breathing a sigh of relief when it’s finally notarized.  We’ll be able to rest in the  knowledge that we have prepared, to the best of our abilities, for our children.

The whole process got me thinking; Do we, as God’s children, contemplate or even fathom our future inheritance?

Our Father God has gone to great lengths to plan, prepare, and complete our future inheritance.

It is ironclad; legal and binding.

His mercy kissed justice and He sealed it with grace.

Romans 8:17 declares:

[Tweet “Since we are His children, we are His heirs. Together with Christ we are heirs of God’s glory.”]divider100God made a plan and executed it.  Our eternal inheritance is signed and sealed by the sacrifice and life payment of Jesus Christ. This was God’s plan from the foundations of the earth.

Ephesians 1:5 tells us, “God decided in advance to adopt us into His own family by bringing us to Himself through Jesus Christ. This is what He wanted to do, and it gave Him great pleasure.” NLTdivider100He doesn’t disinherit His children. He doesn’t base His decision on our perfection, worth, or social standing.  He makes us His children based on His goodness and grace. Can you say “Thank God”?

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast (Ephesians 2:8-9).divider100Our full inheritance is reserved by His Word.  Life is hard. But there is a day coming when we will receive our full inheritance as the sons and daughters of God.

God has reserved a priceless inheritance for his children. It is kept in heaven for you, pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay. 1 Peter 1:4 (NLT)divider100 Our Inheritance is gonna blow our minds!  Better than any “thing” we can imagine!  Joy Unspeakable-Full of Glory!

A “short” list of what we will Inherit!

Nothing that breaks, rusts, or loses it’s value in this list 🙂

*  Eternal, everlasting, abundant, joy-filled LIFE in His presence *  Living with God as our good Father *  Provision for our every need   *  Perfect Peace *  Deliverance from sin and temptation *  Healing from all brokenness *  Wisdom and Strength *  A new believing heart will replace our stony, unbelieving heart *  An incorruptible new body *  A renewed mind *  The fullness of His glorious riches in Christ Jesusdivider100signature

treasurechest1Surprising Treasures-  Our physical bodies have to die before we can fully receive our spiritual inheritance.  What I am saying, dear brothers and sisters, is that our physical bodies cannot inherit the Kingdom of God. These dying bodies cannot inherit what will last forever. I Cor. 15:50

Our inheritance is a shared inheritance.  ” And this is God’s plan: Both Gentiles and Jews who believe the Good News share equally in the riches inherited by God’s children. Both are part of the same body, and both enjoy the promise of blessings because they belong to Christ Jesus.”

I’m all in for eternity! I don’t understand, let alone appreciate it all yet, but I am grateful for what God has reserved for me and my family in heaven. A small inheritance from Cindy’s Grandma Howe helped us purchase our first home and I am will be forever grateful. When I receive my heavenly inheritance I can tell her thank you.

We may not have much of silver and gold, now, but we are children of the King! What a treasure, already, just knowing He adopted us and has gone to prepare a place for us where we’ll never again have to say goodbye. Halleluia!

Hi, I’m Cindy- 35 years of “livin” with my prince charming, Jeff. I’m a home maker, not a house wife, parent of 7, memory maker, mama bear, Nana to 11 & counting, Pastor’s wife and I’m daily amazed by the depths of God’s love.

I love reading, home schooling, encouraging others, playing the piano, worshiping, dating my husband, and planning parties and retreats for our clan. Someday, I really want a horse and learn to play the cello and viola.
