Is Life a True or False Test?

true or false

Bethany may never learn higher math or the periodic table, but God showed us early on THE most important thing she can ever learn.

Down Syndrome can’t stop Bethany from learning to understand and know God in a personal way and learn to live by His truths.

#PrimeDirective #LifeGoal #KnowingGod #LovingGod #LivingTruth

Today, we were reading in Genesis.  We talked about how God gave everything to Adam and Eve and only had 1 rule.  They were not to eat of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil.  We talked how knowledge is knowing something really well- and how God wants us to know Him really well.  We talked about how God doesn’t want us to “know” evil.

Next I made a chart so she could see how good and evil are opposites.  I asked her to contrast Good vs. Evil by topic (see chart)

One thing caught my attention was this; under the column of “good” she wrote the word – TRUTH.

“Great Bethany! Truth is good.  God is all Truth. He wants us to tell the truth and live in truth.  Can you write down the opposite of TRUTH?”

She thought for a moment and wrote the word “FALSE.”

🙂  (Thank you True and False questions on tests lol)

I smiled and said, “yes, but the word I was looking for was LIES.  Lying is the opposite of the truth. Did you know the Bible tells us Satan is the father of lies but God is ALL TRUTH. God cannot lie.”

She countered, “Mom- I know lies is not true but false is opposite of True too.”

I began thinking about “false”.  It’s a word I don’t use very much.  But as I began to look at it from Bethany’s view point. I began to see that false means it’s the wrong answer- the opposite of the right answer.  False is a fake- a sham- a dead wrong answer.

My last post, I talked about overcoming fear in my life.  God is showing me that fear has a voice.  That “voice” is constantly talking inside my mind.  Fear is based on FALSE– it’s a sham- it is NOT truth.

Fear is NOT the truth.

What if I started filtering my thoughts and asking myself- “Is that true or false?”

Many of my fears are related to the unknown but fear tells me: what you’re dreading, fearing is going to happen.

That’s false- There’s a missing component to that thought.

Our worst fears could happen

but the TRUTH (whether I understand it fully or not) is this:  God is in lovingly in control over our future.

The Truth is light chasing away darkness, freedom breaking chains. Truth is the right answer and the opposite of Truth are LIES and FALSE.

I think moments like these are why I treasure the gift of home schooling 🙂

Tell Bethany, I agree! Lies = False.

Love your filtering your thoughts idea!

Thanks Julie- Somehow, when I have to break it down and explain it to Bethany- I see a simpler facet of the truth- it’s so simple- so true- and she lights up when she gets it. I wonder why I make everything so complicated.

Bethany looks so pretty, and based on what you just shared, very wise for her age too.
Sometimes, looking at life from a child’s perspective is refreshing to the soul.

Hi, I’m Cindy- 35 years of “livin” with my prince charming, Jeff. I’m a home maker, not a house wife, parent of 7, memory maker, mama bear, Nana to 11 & counting, Pastor’s wife and I’m daily amazed by the depths of God’s love.

I love reading, home schooling, encouraging others, playing the piano, worshiping, dating my husband, and planning parties and retreats for our clan. Someday, I really want a horse and learn to play the cello and viola.
