Advent Adventures- Preparing Him Room

Advent – latin- Adventus – Greek word- parousia-

~

meaning COMING!

Are you ready to embark on one of the greatest Treasure Hunts ever?

ADVENT IS THE ADVENTURE OF

CELEBRATING HIS FIRST COMING

AND ANTICIPATING and LONGING FOR HIS SECOND!

[Tweet “We ready our hearts to #celebrate His 1st Coming and long for His 2nd Coming. #advent #KingdomCome”]

This adventure is all about PREPARING HIM more room in our lives! “O come, o come Emmanuel”

[Tweet “Every heart is the #innkeeper who has to decide if their is room for the #Messiah. #Advent”]

You’d laugh, I’m sure, if you could see all the preparations going on at our house right now! Sarah and Keith are getting married this coming Saturday! After church, we’re having a shower for Sarah & the guys are going out target shooting with Keith! Shopping and throwing meals in the freezer are also part of my adventure. I decorated for Christmas before Thanksgiving so we could be “ready” for Christmas. I didn’t anticipate the flu bu I did “anticipate” how busy life was going to get and “decided” to “prepare” my home so life could go along as “smoothly” as possible. 🙂

And so it is with Him.

[Tweet “Unclutter our hearts, minds and thoughts and anticipate the coming of the #Lord. #advent #CHRISTmas”]

We already know life is going to get busy.  We don’t have to even anticipate that- it’s a fact.

S0- we must “decide” to Prepare Him room in our very crowded, very fast-paced lives.

Un-clutter our goals, dreams, desires, heart, mind, and thoughts.

My sister, brother-in-law and niece are coming to stay with us for the weekend. Knowing they’re coming, I’ve been giving special attention to the room they’ll stay in.  I de-cluttered, cleaned, and made room for them. I’ve set aside a place to welcome them. I’m anticipating a time of love and celebration when they come.

This advent adventure is to allow us time.  Time to prepare and anticipate.  Time to de-clutter and clean and make room for Him. There’s time to set aside a place for Him.  Time to anticipate His first coming and His second.  I want to make room- and I want to be ready to receive His presence!

 Christmas

is only the beginning

of the Adventure-

It’s His divine, supernatural, astonishing entry point into our messed up, broken, out of control world!

He became one of us; with our limitations, our challenges, our sorrows, and our longings!

Let the “preparations” begin!

christmas wrapping “Dear Jesus, come in and unclutter our lives from the mundane, the trivial, the unnecessary- turn over the tables that offend you. Prepare Room for Yourself & come in and fill us with your Joy and Love that we can be a light to those who have lost their way. Help us begin to anticipate your promised return- your second coming- not as a baby, but as the Prince of Peace and King of Kings. Amen.

It is exciting to realize that as I prepare to celebrate Jesus’ First Advent it is also making me ready for His Second!

Me too! The signs were everywhere when Jesus was born- the prophecies were “read” and interpreted by the magi- AND YET- so many missed seeing His arrival. Open our eyes to things unseen. 🙂

Hi, I’m Cindy- 35 years of “livin” with my prince charming, Jeff. I’m a home maker, not a house wife, parent of 7, memory maker, mama bear, Nana to 11 & counting, Pastor’s wife and I’m daily amazed by the depths of God’s love.

I love reading, home schooling, encouraging others, playing the piano, worshiping, dating my husband, and planning parties and retreats for our clan. Someday, I really want a horse and learn to play the cello and viola.
