Warrior Dad- Fierce Love

The LORD marches out like a warrior; He stirs up His rage like a man of war; He makes His anger heard; He shouts aloud; he declares His mastery over His enemies:

Isaiah 42:13

Our culture soft pedals the fierce, warrior love of God. Ummm- hello- to be a good God- He has to defeat evil.  And He will- just as every good Father will.  Love defends.  Love protects. Love fights for what is right.

[Tweet “True #love fights for what is right; defends and protects their own. #fierce #FathersDay”]

Jeff is such a fun- encouraging- hands on type of dad! But tread softly and don’t ever threaten his clan. Make no mistake- He is the clan chieftain! I think sometimes, in our culture- we’ve celebrated strong women so much that we forget to celebrate strong men.  So Happy Father’s Day you men who love your family without restraint!

family

I know Jeff would battle through anything or anyone- he would go to the mats for his children- for me.

When our children/grandchildren get hurt or in danger- I turn into Florence Nightingale and Jeff- the dad- immediately morphs into SUPER PROTECTOR.   FIERCE WARRIOR.  Kind of reminds me of BRAVEHEART.

braveheart1A few examples:

Jeff almost ripped a dog in half with his own hands when this same dog pinned our 4 year old son, Micah, to the ground. I ran to Micah- Jeff was set on taking out the perpetrator.

When a car hit our son, Josh- throwing him backwards back into our yard- breaking his leg- I ran to Josh- but the avenger in Jeff sent him racing and yelling down the street yelling at the car to STOP- didn’t they know they had almost killed his son?!!!!

But Jeff has shared that the worst feeling as a Fierce DAD- is when something happens out of his control and he feels like he’s failed as a protector. It about killed Jeff- when he couldn’t protect Kristin from dying- couldn’t protect Sarah from the pain of divorce- and couldn’t protect Bethany from being born with down syndrome.

I could go on and on but I’m trying to keep my blog posts a bit shorter. 🙂  All through the years- Jeff/aka Protector DAD has shown his love by ramped up, explosive, fierce, protective love.  Ready to do battle in instant. It’s truly  awesome-almost scary to watch.

fierce love Jeff

And while my nurturing soft side tends to protect in a different way- I applaud and thank God for Fierce, Aggressive, No Holds Barred, Protective love.  That’s the God kind of love.

fight

Because, the bottom line is this: love isn’t love if it’s just a warm fuzzy.

[Tweet “God’s love is fierce and wild. It cannot be thwarted or defeated. #fierceLove “]

God shows us this indomitable love. This love that CANNOT-  WILL NOT be thwarted!

His love is so fierce, so aggressive- He loved us and planned to redeem us BEFORE we made any attempt to love Him!

fierce love

That Warrior love- the kind that God demonstrates- is what I celebrate today! God is for us and will protect us. We are His children- His clan- His family.  Mess with His kids and He’s going to step in.

Thank you God, for giving me a husband that has a powder keg of enough furious love that he will protect and defend us. Thank you God for men who aren’t afraid to be bold and brave- fierce fighters that will not let their family be destroyed.

So fight on Brave Dads! Pray Hard. Live Well. Love deep and strong. We need your fierce, bold, brave love in our lives!

38 And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[b] neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. 39 No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.  Romans 8:31

    Our family motto is “Defend-Protect-Respect-Honor.”
The saying on our Clan Barclay crest says “Aut Augrie–Aut Morie.” Do or Die/Action or Death. It fits.

Hi, I’m Cindy- 35 years of “livin” with my prince charming, Jeff. I’m a home maker, not a house wife, parent of 7, memory maker, mama bear, Nana to 11 & counting, Pastor’s wife and I’m daily amazed by the depths of God’s love.

I love reading, home schooling, encouraging others, playing the piano, worshiping, dating my husband, and planning parties and retreats for our clan. Someday, I really want a horse and learn to play the cello and viola.
