Bethany laughs hilariously as the wind tunnel machine blows at 78 mph

Did you know laughter burns calories???? Halla!

It also increases memory, enhances our immune systems, improves sleep, triggers the release of endorphins (natural pain killers), augments oxygen intake, improves blood pressure, eases digestion, escalates optimism, and it’s great for relationships!

WOW- Who knew?

Hmmmm- I wonder how many calories it does burn????

Read on dear friends, and laugh- hopefully you’ll take a brief vacation from the doldrums today.  Let Bethany and I entertain you! πŸ™‚

Bethany and I have a SnapChat nightmare πŸ˜‰ it’s good to be silly—–

The 4-1-1 on DEBIT CARD USAGE

I’ve been teaching Bethany how to grocery shop. She makes the list, helps find the item, price compares, and checks out. She loves swiping the debit card and getting the receipt. Yay- Bethany. One more step toward independence!

Recently, I realized I might not have taught her everything to know about using debit cards.

We were decorating at the church when she happily bounced her way toward me.

“Mom! Guess What? I’m so proud of me! I got the debit card to work 3 times at the Giving Machine at church.”

What was she talking about?????

It soon became clear. Our church has a new “Giving Kiosk” for people to give from their debit card.

Uhuh! She did not!

Yes! She did!!!

“Bethany how much did you swipe it for?”

“Well- a long thoughtful pause ensued-  I swiped the card 3 times and each time I put in 5000.”

“Come on! We have to go home and check our online banking. I have to find out what you did! What in the world possessed you to swipe MY debit card?”

“But Mom, you love to give to the church. I do too. I thought you want me to use your debit card for important stuff like food and church.”  (gotta love those priorities πŸ˜‰ lol)

“But honey- I only let you use my debit card at the store because I’m allowing you to use it- I know you’re using it! That’s my debit card and my money in the bank. You can’t go around giving away someones money without their permission!”

“But Mom, I know you give to the church so I’m just helping you out. Debit cards are the bestest.”

Just swipe and magically- everything is paid for πŸ™‚

OH MY GOODNESS!

We arrived home WITHOUT a speeding ticket  (Thank You Jesus!)  and I breathed a sigh of relief as I read my bank statement. The 5000 was actually 50.00 (3 times) Thank you God for automatic decimal points.

After making sure she truly understands she’s NOT helping by swiping- the hilarity of it still makes me laugh! Unbelievable!

If She could do the Math- Bethany could sell Real Estate.

We include Bethany in our discussions of her/our future living arrangements.  We know, sometime, in the future, we’ll move into either a ranch with a walk out basement for an apartment or something with separate living quarters- one for us- and one for Bethany and a roommate. Of course, in Bethany’s best prayers and dreams, she’s sure that one day she’ll be sharing her room with a husband!

We’re not ready to move yet. We’re not even truly sure what we need to look for. BUT- we want to prepare Bethany for the next transition because many of her friends will be living on their own and we want her to know she will also get to grow into independence.

However- the future is foggy but right now is within her grasp.

Bethany’s solution?

She’s downloaded the ZILLOW Real Estate App on her phone and is continually sending me “deals” of homes she loves and wants to move to.

Now, I love to look at houses, but there’s just one problem with this scenario.

Bethany hasn’t learned to put in the price parameters in Zillow. $$$$$

Sadly, or perhaps hilariously, none of the million dollar homes she sends me will work for us – now or in the future!!!

Bethany’s Prayer List for a Future Husband:

He has to love God

Love me

Love my family

Want to live in Lawrence. (that’s my mom and dad’s rule πŸ˜‰ )

He has to be funny and a hard worker.

He has to be kind and patient.

He has to like to do things with me and go places.

And he has to be smokin hot!  (where does she get these things??????)

Well- so much for the right priorities- at least “hot” is at the end of her list!

Bethany is a hoot for sure! I love being close enough to hear about and witness Bethany growing up. Don’t we all wish the million dollar house was in our grasp even if we don’t really want one. I would like a bigger living room & bedroom with another bathroom. Maybe we will make that happen in the house we have someday. Someday she will know the “smokin hot” husband will be the way he looks at her with loving eyes, gentle touch, and the way he makes her laugh at silly things.

[panel style=”default” title=”About Cindy” text_align=”left”]Jeff & Cindy

Hi, I’m Cindy- 35 years of “livin” with my prince charming, Jeff. I’m a home maker, not a house wife, parent of 7, memory maker, mama bear, Nana to 11 & counting, Pastor’s wife and I’m daily amazed by the depths of God’s love.

I love reading, home schooling, encouraging others, playing the piano, worshiping, dating my husband, and planning parties and retreats for our clan. Someday, I really want a horse and learn to play the cello and viola.
